Sheesh, talk about procrastinating...
It has been ages since I last blogged and I haven't been doing anything exciting as an excuse.
I have been baking though, of course.
On the Fourth of July I made a patriotic cake. Hooray! Go red, white and blue.
It had some colorful, vibrant layers on the inside.
I also made a very special layered birthday cake for Nicollette, a cool dude that I work with. She is the jam. We talk about 90210 and awesome 80's flicks like Troop Beverly Hills (yeah Cookie time!) Her favorite cakes are carrot and cheese, so I combined them for her.
Oh, I like to call her pickle.
Carrot cake, cheesecake, carrot cake. Bathed in cream cheese frosting. It was a hit. The Happy Birthday girl was pleased. :)

Happy Dad Days
My Paps is one of those people who has a birthday close to a holiday, in this case Father's Day. We combined the celebration into one day and had a get together complete with taco salads and weirdo photo booth pictures on the ipad. I brought dessert, as usual, but this time it wasn't cookies. I made a carrot cake since it is my papa Kenneth's favorite.
I made the fondant and shaped the carrots all by myself. It was fun. I cut back on the fat in the cake too, since it is bikini season. Heyo!
Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day to my daddy. :)
What a handsome fella! This is his modeling shot for men's cologne. The beach!

Fire Engine Red
Happy 2nd Birthday to a sweet little boy!
I had the pleasure of making 60 cupcakes and 24 cookies in fire engine red and bright yellow colors. It was a lot of work and a lot of red gel coloring, but it was fun and I hope all the treats were enjoyed. The cookies were individually bagged and tied with ribbons. I kept the designs simple with mostly dots and swirls so that the colors would really stand out.
For the cupcakes I did chocolate cake with bright red vanilla buttercream and yellow sprinkles.
I also did a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and red/yellow sprinkles.
60 cupcakes felt like a daunting task, but it was good experience for my sister's wedding in the fall (potentially 100 cuppys and a two tiered cake!) Fortunately I got some bakery boxes with cupcake inserts to transport these sweeties. I have had way too many anxiety filled cupcake transportation moments in the past. The boxes made life so much easier.
My fingers might be permanently tinted red.
