When the weather is weird and overcast, I am not a happy man. My hair gets frizzy the second I step outside and the pressure in the air makes my brain hurt. I would also like to blame the soupy weather on the wrinkly macarons that I made the other day. They were so bizarre and such a disappointment. Wrinkles! The flavor however was awesome. I added a bag of chai tea to the batter and it gave them a warm and spicy taste. The wrinkles made them a total fail, but at least I found a fun new flavoring method.
I decided to apply this bright idea to my cookies. What better way to combine tea flavor into a cookie than to make a teacup shape. Heyo.
The teacups were flavored with earl grey tea. I just cut open a tea bag and popped it into my dry ingredient mix. The earl has a nice flowery flavor from the bergamot oil and it was a pleasant blend when I combined it with the butter vanilla emulsion.
I also made some lemon wedges, flavored with lemon zest in the batter, for a proper cup of tea.
I kept my teacup designs rather simple. I would like to make them a bit fancier for next time. Practice is key. Cheerio!
